Meet The Star Of The Dallas Cowboys Cheer Squad (1:14)

As the Dallas Cowboys try to avoid a tailspin, Jerry Jones interrupted Wednesday's practice with his helicopter.

The Cowboys owner landed his helicopter on the field as his team prepared for a Week 5 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers. As they waited to resume play, Dak Prescott pantomimed throwing a pass at the aircraft.

Some head coaches might get crumpy about an owner halting practice to show off a big, loud toy. However, Mike McCarthy joked about the unusual moment

"Let's be honest, he was almost late for practice," McCarthy said, via Joseph Hoyt. "I thought I was going to have to get on his a**."

The Cowboys aren't exactly flying high during a 2-2 start to the season. They rank last in rushing offense and allowed 26.0 points per game in September.

Even a crucial Week 4 win over the New York Giants proved costly. Micah Parsons suffered a high ankle sprain that will likely sideline him this weekend, and fellow defensive star DeMarcus Lawrence could miss up to eight weeks with a foot injury.

The Cowboys responded by signing defensive end K.J. Henry, who witnessed Jones' grand entrance in his first practice.

"I was asking the guys, 'Is this like an everyday thing?' Like, I mean, this is real Dallas-like," Henry said of his strange introduction to the team, per ESPN's Todd Archer. "I mean, the helicopter right through warmups. So that was cool. That's how some of the head coaches used to recruit back in high school, bring a helicopter to the field. That was a little different."

The Cowboys play the Steelers on Sunday Night Football, which starts at 8:20 p.m. ET on NBC.
