Matt Rhule will look to avenge last year's loss to Colorado when hosting Shedeur Sanders and the Buffaloes in Week 2. The Cornhuskers head coach recently showered his upcoming opponent with praise.

Discussing the high-profile matchup on The Joel Klatt Show, Rhule was highly complimentary of Colorado's star quarterback.

"The one thing we always have to remember when we talk about Colorado is how great Shedeur is," Rhule said, via the Fort Collins Coloradoan's Scott Procter. "He is one of the best football players I've ever coached against."

Rhule, who began coaching in 1998, recalled his defense sacking Sanders 10 times in last season's encounter. Despite taking a heavy beating, the quarterback led the Buffaloes to a 36-14 victory over the Huskers with 393 passing yards and two touchdowns.

"We hit him a ton, and he stood in there," Rhule noted. "I know everyone sees Shedeur on commercials. They see the swagger that he plays with, but he's an unbelievable competitor, and he's tough."

Rhule also shouted out Colorado two-way star Travis Hunter when considering the talented roster Nebraska will face. He additionally credited Deion Sanders for making college football "relevant" to more fans across the country.

"They're going to come into our place as a really good football team with dynamic players that you have to compete with," Rhule said. "How good is it for that part of the country to have this game and to have it be on national TV at night? How good is it for the game of football?"

NBC will televise the marquee matchup between Nebraska and Colorado on Sept. 7 at 7:30 p.m. ET.
