The Los Angeles Rams are in the middle of a heated division race in the NFC West.

Apparently, star wide receiver Puka Nacua didn't realize what division the Rams were fighting for until very recently. On Thursday, Nakua told reporters he recently found out the the team competed in the NFC West, having been so locked in on the immediate task at hand that he didn't give it much thought.

"No, if I'm being honest with you guys, somebody told me we're in the NFC West, so that's good to know, I guess," Nacua told reporters. "Yeah, one day at a time is my mentality. I feel like I say that to you guys a lot, but then it's whatever game we have coming up on Sunday or whatever the day that week it falls on."

Considering the Rams were in the NFC playoffs last year when Nacua was a rookie, we're going to assume he at least knew what conference the team played in.

For what it's worth, his head coach Sean McVay says Nacua was just trolling, not clueless.

"No, he didn't. He was messing with you," McVay said. "You'd have to give me the context, I think so. Isn't that beautiful? See, that's why… be like Puka. Just focus on what you can control and… hey, if that's the case, I love him unconditionally. You know what though? There is a beauty in that in all seriousness.

"Let's just say that's the case. I know this, that guy is going to show up when we play the [San Francisco 49ers] 'Niners', the [Arizona] Cardinals, and the [Seattle] Seahawks, and shoot, if he thinks that we're in the same division as the Eagles, then let's show up against them too."

Entering today, the Rams find themselves at 5-5, tied with the Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers for second place in the NFC West behind the 6-4 division-leading Arizona Cardinals. It's going to be a wild few weeks.

Nacua was injured in Week 1 and did not return until Oct. 24. Since then though, he's posted two 100-yard receiving games and has 23 catches for 338 yards and one touchdown in four games.

The Rams and Philadelphia Eagles will kick off at 8:20 p.m. ET tonight on NBC.
