Meet The Star Of The Dallas Cowboys Cheer Squad (1:14)

It's been a big struggle for the Dallas Cowboys' running game to start the 2024 NFL season.

They have a combined 46 carries for 170 yards and one rushing touchdown in two games. They're also only averaging 3.7 yards per carry.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was asked about the state of the running game, specifically the team's running backs, and isn't happy about how the media is talking about them.

"A few of the media have gotten out here and written some stories early about how we needed a running back in the draft or how we need a running back, and they're trying to cover their you-know-what as we go through the season," Jones said.

Jones has been taking some criticism for those comments since the running game needs to be a lot better.

"The Dallas Cowboys rank worst in the NFL through two weeks (and Week 3 TNF, I guess) in RYOE per attempt. They are the second-worst in RYOE outright. How dare the media do this to them," one tweet read.

"The Cowboys rank 31st out of 32 teams in Rush Yards over Expectation. @NextGenStats model projects Cowboys backs should be gaining a league-high 5.3 yards per carry Instead, they're averaging 3.7 yards per carry," another tweet read.

"This is the greatest example of projecting I've ever seen," another tweet read.

"Jerry Jones said the Cowboys having questions at running back is a media conspiracy and made up narrative....wow," another tweet read

The Cowboy's running game will have a chance to be a lot better when they host the Baltimore Ravens at 4:25 p.m. ET on Sunday.
