Jane Slater Has Disappointing Update On Micah Parsons, Cowboys Contract

With only one year remaining on Micah Parsons' rookie contract, the Dallas Cowboys are running out of time to work out a long-term extension.
Parsons has been the heart and soul of the Cowboys for the past few seasons. Since entering the league in 2021, he has racked up 256 tackles and 52.5 sacks. When he's at the top of his game, there aren't many pass rushers who can match his impact on the field.
Even though Parsons has not shared his contract demands yet, many analysts expect him to make close to $40 million per year. After all, the Cleveland Browns just gave Myles Garrett a four-year, $160 million extension.
According to WFAA, the Cowboys have discussed a potential long-term contract with Parsons. However, fans may want to check Jane Slater's latest report before running over to the team shop and purchasing a No. 11 jersey.
Slater, who works for NFL Network, is plugged in with the Cowboys. She claims the franchise hasn't even had "meaningful talks" with Parsons about an extension.
"While there is chatter on Twitter about Micah Parsons and a contract extension being finalized, I checked. Not only is it NOT done but what would be characterized as meaningful talks haven't even begun yet per two sources informed," Slater wrote on X.
Back in January, Parsons told reporters that he wanted to get a deal done with Dallas as soon as possible.
"I don't want to hold anybody up," Parsons said. "I want to see some of these (free agents) back in this locker room. We have a great opportunity. I want to see change. I want to see players here. I want to be as aggressive as we can be. I don't want to be a headache to nobody."
For some reason, Dallas hasn't shown much urgency in its contract talks with Parsons. Perhaps that'll change before the NFL Draft.
