An IndyCar team's headquarters was the subject of an investigation on Wednesday.

Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing, which has competed at the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and the IndyCar Series, was reportedly investigated by the FBI and local police on Wednesday morning. The team's headquarters is in Zionsville, Indiana. The Boone County town's mayor confirmed the news to News 8 on Wednesday afternoon. The investigation took place shortly after 8 a.m. local time, according to reports. The team's headquarters is located off 106th Street west of U.S. 421 and Bennett Parkway in Zionsville.

At this time, it's unclear why the investigation took place.

The FBI said in a statement to FOX59/CBS4 that there is no threat to the public. RLL Racing has not responded to an IBJ request for comment. No other information was provided.

Rahal Letterman Lanigan is owned by former Indy 500 winner Bobby Rahal, Hoosier native and TV host David Letterman and entrepreneur Mike Lanigan. RLL's 100,000-square-foot facility opened in Zionsville in 2022.

The racing team currently fields three IndyCar cars driven by Rahal's son Graham, Pietro Fittipaldi and Christian Lundgaard.

Longtime TV host David Letterman is among the owners of the IndyCar team. Former Indy 500 winner Bobby Rahal and entrepreneur Mike Lanigan are also co-owners.

At this time, it's unclear why the investigation took place.
