The NFL's Current 10 Biggest Rivalries (1:35)

The Carolina Panthers shocked NFL fans around the country Monday when they announced that Bryce Young will not start Week 3.

Young was selected by the Panthers with the No. 1 pick in last year's NFL Draft. The front office mortgaged a lot of picks and a star wideout in DJ Moore in order to be in position to draft the former Alabama quarterback. So far though, he has been underwhelming. In 18 career games, he has completed just 59.3 percent of his passes for 3,122 yards with 11 touchdowns and 13 interceptions.

Speaking to the media Monday afternoon, Panthers head coach Dave Canales explained his decision to bench Young.

"This was something that after I watched the film, I looked at it, had a thought, started talking to the guys that we make decisions with," Canales said. "Certainly a lot of parties involved there. Ultimately this comes on me, and my No. 1 responsibility is to help the Panthers this win, and this move I believe puts us in the best chance to do that this week."

If the Panthers are officially done with the Bryce Young experiment, they should consider trading him. There are at least three teams that should be interested in the former Heisman Trophy winner.

3. New York Giants

If Brian Daboll is officially done with Daniel Jones, maybe he should take a chance on Bryce Young. This wouldn't be the blockbuster move Giants fans are begging for, but it would be an intriguing one.

Playing in New York would probably apply more pressure on Young than he'd like, but at least he'd get to play for a better coach.

2. Los Angeles Rams

The last time the Carolina Panthers failed a young quarterback, they went to the Los Angeles Rams and had success. Of course, we're talking about Baker Mayfield.

Mayfield thrived in a few starts with the Rams and then landed back on his feet with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Why can't Young go learn from Matthew Stafford for a year or two before getting another chance to show what he can do?

Besides, Stafford isn't getting any younger. The Rams could buy low on Young and maybe develop him into their long-term starter.

1. Miami Dolphins

Tua Tagovailoa's health is going to be a major question for the Miami Dolphins moving forward, make no mistake about it. While the front office is financially committed to him, it makes sense for them to add some insurance.

In the event Young goes to Miami, he would have an innovative coach in Mike McDaniel who can instill confidence in him. It also doesn't hurt that he'd have an elite wide receiver in Tyreek Hill.
