Former NFL Star Says The Cowboys Should Trade Dak Prescott

Despite the fact that Dak Prescott signed a four-year, $240 million extension in September, there's at least one former NFL player who believes the Dallas Cowboys should trade him.
On this Wednesday's edition of "The Facility" on FS1, former Pro Bowl running back LeSean McCoy was asked if the Cowboys should tank for the remainder of the 2024 season. At 3-6, it's very unlikely they make the playoffs, especially with Prescott out for the season. Instead of answering the question, he talked about the veteran signal-caller's future in Dallas.
McCoy thinks the Cowboys would be better off trading Prescott and drafting a new quarterback in April, but it's not just any prospect that he's talking about. He wants them to select Shedeur Sanders from Colorado. In this hypothetical scenario, Shedeur's father, Deion Sanders, would coach the Cowboys.
"I think the Cowboys should trade Dak," McCoy said. "Trade Dak, go out there, go to Colorado, get this quarterback named Shedeur Sanders. Bro, that would have the NFL in an uproar. That would be the best for the ratings, that would be the best for the team."
Unsurprisingly, this take from McCoy went viral on social media.

The reality is the Cowboys can't afford to trade Prescott this offseason. A trade before June 1 would force the team to take on $104 million in dead cap, per Spotrac.
Even if it was post-June 1 trade, the Cowboys would have to deal with that money. The only upside is they can break it up between 2025 and 2026.
Also, a young quarterback isn't fixing the main problem for the Cowboys. Anyone who watched last Sunday's game would know Prescott isn't the issue. The reality is the roster around him right now isn't good enough.
The Cowboys need to improve their offensive line and backfield before considering a change at quarterback. That being said, McCoy isn't a fan of Prescott. He has made that very clear over the past few seasons.
While we don't agree with McCoy's take, we're not shocked that he's advocating for a blockbuster trade involving Prescott.
