Lindsey Vonn is back.

The 40-year-old Winter Olympics legend announced on Thursday morning that she is returning to the U.S. Skiing team. Vonn, a four-time World Cup champion and three-time Olympics medalist, announced her decision to return following multiple leg injuries. Vonn had been out of the sport for five years, but wants a chance to compete again at the World Cup and, perhaps the 2026 Olympics.

"I'm trying not to get too far ahead of myself because I have quite a few hoops to jump through," Vonn said. "Obviously, I wouldn't be doing this if I didn't hope to be racing. I have aspirations. I love to go fast. How fast can I go? I don't know.

"But I'm not going to put myself in a position to fail. My goal is to enjoy this, and hopefully that road takes me to World Cup races. I wouldn't be back on the U.S. ski team if I didn't have intentions."

Vonn has accomplished quite a bit over the course of her career - both on and off of the mountain.

The legendary U.S. skier has posed for the iconic Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue. Vonn rocked nothing but "Body Paint" for a special Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue photoshoot. She even did a mini workout in the "Body Paint" bikini, too.

"Even on set I never stopped training...now it's back to work. Excited to race this wknd in Italy," she wrote.

The 2026 Winter Olympics will be held in Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy. Vonn isn't looking too far ahead, though she's always enjoyed skiing there.

"I've always enjoyed racing in Cortina and I've had a lot of success in Cortina," she said. "I don't know what the next few months and the next year and a half hold for me. So I can't say right now if it's a possibility."

She added: "But I think everyone knows how much I love Cortina."

Welcome back, Lindsey.
