'Enormous Winter Event' Approaching Dallas Before Texas vs. Ohio State

The College Football Playoff is set to resume this weekend with the two biggest games of the season so far.
Notre Dame will face Penn State in a battle of traditional college football powerhouses in the Orange Bowl on Saturday night, while Ohio State is set to take on Texas in the Cotton Bowl on Friday.
There's a lot on the line in the two games, and all four teams will be looking to advance to this year's national championship game. Weather shouldn't be a concern on the field in either game, but fans and players may have some difficulty getting to AT&T Stadium in Arlington for the Cotton Bowl.
Meteorologists like Texas-based Collin Myers are predicting a "enormous winter weather event" in North and Central Texas this week that could bring a major accumulation of snow and ice to the area.
Snow is expected to hit the area hard, with some regions expected to see more than 10 inches of precipitation from the storm.
"The State of Texas is working around the clock to ensure Texans have the resources and support needed as severe winter weather impacts communities across Texas," said Texas governor Greg Abbott in a recent statement.
"As temperatures begin to drop below freezing and regions of Texas face snow, ice and freezing rain, it is crucial that everyone remain weather-aware."
Crews have put salt and brine down around the areas that are expected to see heavy snow and ice, and officials in Dallas will hold a news conference this week to inform the public of their efforts to prepare for the storm.
The game shouldn't be affected by weather, as AT&T Stadium has a retractable roof. As long as both teams are able to safely make it to the stadium in the bad weather, Friday night's matchup should go on without a hitch.
The snow and ice may make the fan experience less than ideal, especially when it comes to tailgating or even getting to the game itself. We've seen fans brave the elements before for their favorite teams, but we'll see how that extends to games at neutral sites.
Fans can tune into the Cotton Bowl between Ohio State and Texas on Friday night at 7 PM ET on ESPN.
