Adam Schefter found time to roast Doug Gottlieb while his company aired two NFL games on Monday night.

Before ABC and ESPN each broadcasted a Week 15 matchup, Schefter broke a college football scoop on Monday afternoon. According to the insider, Sacramento State is in talks with former quarterback Michael Vick about its head coaching job. In his tweet reporting the information, Schefter wrote that the FCS program "has over $50 million in NIL."

Like many other readers, Gottlieb was skeptical of that NIL budget. The Green Bay men's basketball coach urged Schefter not to repeat whatever his sources feed him.

"Jeezus Shefty, edit what agents tell you," Gottlieb wrote. "0.0% chance Sac State has $50m in NIL."

Schefter responded to the Fox Sports radio host.

"The SAC-12 leading the school's NIL efforts already announced it has reached its initial goal of raising $50 million in NIL funds to strengthen the school's case for an invitation to the PAC-12 or Mountain West conference," Schefter said.

After that straightforward clarification, Schefter then went for the jugular. He posted a screenshot of the Horizon League standings with Gottlieb's 2-10 Phoenix at the bottom.

"And Jeezus, Doug. A seven-game losing steak [sic] and last place in the Horizon League? Less time on social media and more time in the gym," Schefter added.

While Schefter may have won that round, Gottlieb wasn't the only one to question Sacramento State's supposedly monumental NIL budget. For reference, Ohio State said it spent $20 million on this season's roster.

The Athletic's Stewart Mandel wrote that Sacramento State "does not have anything close to $50 million" in NIL funds.

"I believe this is referring to a fundraising group that's been trying to get Sac State into the Pac-12 that claims it has raised $50 million in 'commitments' over 10 years," Mandel wrote. "If it was $50M in hard cash they could get any coach in America to come to Sacramento."

Perhaps Gottlieb took Schefter's advice and logged off, as he hasn't replied to the reporter's dig as of this writing.
