Chris Paul Has Classy Message For Gregg Popovich Amid Health Concern

The San Antonio Spurs will be without Gregg Popovich for an indefinite period of time due to a health-related issue.
Popovich, 75, experienced a health scare on Saturday night. It was then revealed that he wouldn't travel with the Spurs for their next road trip. While on "NBA Today" this week, ESPN's Shams Charania said, "It is still uncertain when he will make it back on the floor, on the sideline, for the team." That being said, assistant coach Mitch Johnson has been named the interim head coach for San Antonio.
On Monday night, Spurs point guard Chris Paul addressed the media. During his time at the podium, he delivered a heartfelt message about Popovich.
"I've only been with the team now for a few months, but I've paid attention to Pop my entire career, you know, and he, I think is one of the best, if not the best and putting everything into perspective," Paul said. "And he's so selfless and he makes sure we understand how privileged we are to play this game and to be in the NBA, but he'd be the first person to tell you not to worry about him and to go out and hoop. But of course all the guys with our team, staff, everyone definitely miss him because he's Pop. So there's a feeling when he's in the room that just comforts everybody."
We'd have to imagine others around the league are wishing Popovich all the best.
Johnson will try to keep the Spurs above water while Popovich hopefully makes a full recovery.
"This has happened before. I think everybody's just always got to be ready for the next man up," Johnson said. "We've had it with injuries and sometimes people get sick or don't feel well or things come up in life. He's just not feeling well."
The Spurs will be in action this Wednesday against the Houston Rockets. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. ET.
