The Los Angeles Lakers drafted Bronny James at No. 55 overall last week, and the decision has been controversial to say the least.

Some believe the Lakers went overboard by taking a current player's son, and that Bronny is only on the team because LeBron James is his father.

They argue that Bronny being in the NBA is purely based on nepotism rather than his merit as a player.

One analyst on FOX Sports took things further with that assertion, and he made a bold claim about the Lakers' draft pick.

"I think this is the worst decision that has ever happened in professional sports," Rob Parker said on FOX Sports Radio.

"And I'm dead serious when I say that. It changes what the essence of the game has always been, which is about competition.

This is what we always talked about, and the reason why you have an NFL where you have essentially 99% of the owners are white, and yet the league is 70% Black."

Parker argued that drafting Bronny creates an environment where the NBA is no longer a "meritocracy," and that players are now being evaluated on who they are related to rather than their skills.

"I heard a lot of people throw nepotism. And there's plenty of nepotism, and I've been critical…It's wrong," he continued.

"We've seen it, especially in the front office. But it ain't the same as what we've seen here, as far as on the field."

Bronny is not the first relative of an NBA player or coach to make the league, he just happens to be the first to be drafted to the same team as his father.

He'll need to prove himself - as all rookies do - but there's little reason to suggest that his situation is particularly unique, especially in today's NBA.
