Angel Reese Reveals Special Aspect of Relationship With WNBA MVP A'ja Wilson

There's definitely no shortage of stars from across the world of sports and celebrity who have taken an interest in Angel Reese.

The former LSU star counts NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal as a mentor, for instance, and has a budding friendship with rapper Megan Theee Stallion. It's  safe to say Reese's list of famous phone contacts will only grow longer as her career with the Chicago Sky continues.

When it comes specifically to the WNBA, though, she'll always be hard-pressed to find a more suitable and sympathetic ear than that of Las Vegas Aces superstar A'ja  Wilson.

Reese opened up on her relationship with the three-time MVP in a feature by The Wall Street Journal's Rachel Bachman, explaining why Wilson is such an inspiration and revealing that she's always just one phone call away.

"I just love being able to see a woman in sports that thrives through everything," Reese said of Wilson. "And just knowing that it wasn't an easy journey for her, it has never been an easy journey for me.

"So just being able to look up to her and look at her, and see, like, that's where I want to be one day—just thrive and walk in her footsteps, because she's laid the ground for me to be able to do that. She's been nothing but an inspiration to me, she's been joyful to me, she's always been somebody that I could call and be there for me. I just love that about her."

Wilson shares a similarly glowing opinion of Reese, going so far as to say she sees a lot of herself in how the 22-year-old approaches the game.

Does that mean Reese is bound to become one of the greatest players in WNBA history? Not quite.

On her long path toward achieving that lofty goal, though, Reese will definitely benefit from having Wilson in her corner—at least when they aren't facing off against each other for Chicago and Las Vegas, of course.
