11/19/2024 07:20 PM
The third edition of the 2024 College Football Playoff rankings were just unveiled on ESPN.
Last weekend, the most notable CFP-related results featured Georgia beating Tennessee and Kansas upsetting previously unbeaten BYU. Those games had an impact on this week's top 25, with BYU plummeting from No. 6 to No. 14, though the Cougars maintained the 12th and final spot in the bracket.
Meanwhile, Tennessee fell from No. 7 to No. 11 (First Team Out of bracket), with Georgia moving from No. 12 and the First Team Out of the bracket to No. 10 overall and the 11th seed. If the Playoff began this weekend, the Vols would be out of the mix, though there is still plenty of time for things to change.
Boise State is only 12th in the overall rankings, but holds onto the No. 4 seed and the final first round bye. The top three seeds are No. 1 Oregon, No. 3 Texas and No. 8 Miami (Fla).
First round matchups include Ohio State-BYU, Penn State-Georgia, Indiana-Ole Miss and Indiana-Alabama.

The next installment of the College Football Playoff rankings will be out next Tuesday, while the final 12-team bracket will be unveiled on Sunday, Dec. 8.
As for this weekend, there are several high-caliber matchups to watch, none bigger than Indiana-Ohio State. The winner will take one more step toward a CFP berth and set up a meeting with Oregon in the Big Ten Championship Game.
Elsewhere, Notre Dame meets Army at Yankee Stadium on Saturday night. Those are the only two games between ranked opponents, but there are more with high stakes pertaining to conference title races.
