Alvin Kamara sounds relieved that Dennis Allen is no longer the head coach of the New Orleans Saints, that's for sure.

On Monday morning, the Saints officially parted ways with Allen. They made that decision after the team lost to the Carolina Panthers. There has been plenty of turmoil surrounding New Orleans for the past few seasons, and yet, the front office remained loyal to Allen. All it took was a seven-game losing streak for things to change.

Now that Allen is out, the Saints will be led by Darren Rizzi. The longtime special teams coordinator has been named interim coach for the rest of the season.

Speaking to reporters this week, Kamara raved about the energy and toughness that Rizzi brings to practice.

"Rizz don't want nobody on the ground at practice. You see somebody go down and he gets right in their face. That just hasn't been a thing. He's going to hold you accountable," Kamara told reporters. "He's setting a certain standard and he wants that standard surpassed."

Kamara's comment about accountability is interesting. He's basically suggesting that Allen failed to hold everyone, including himself, accountable on a daily basis.

Considering Kamara is the heart and soul of the Saints, his words hold a ton of weight. If he believes the coaching staff has done a better job of raising the standard now that Allen is gone, why should we question him?

This Sunday could be one to remember for Kamara, who is on the cusp of becoming the all-time leading rusher for the Saints. He's just 12 yards away from breaking the record (6,500 rushing yards) that's currently held by his former teammate, Mark Ingram.

"It's definitely a full-circle moment because I came in young buck, he kind of gave everything to me, just poured into me and helped me kind of become the running back I am right now, the player I am, the pro I am," Kamara said

We'll see if Kamara and the Saints can kick off their "interim coach era" with a victory.
