The San Francisco 49ers made a roster move on Wednesday but not the one everyone was expecting.

They signed running back Ke'Shawn Vaughn and wide receiver Jonte Kirklin while releasing safety Erik Harris and waiving wide receiver Terique Owens, the son of former NFL star wide receiver Terrell Owens.

Owens was cut with an injury designation so if he goes unclaimed, he'll go on injured reserve.

He spent three seasons of his collegiate career at Missouri State, finishing the 2023 season with 28 receptions for 528 yards and four touchdowns. It was the best season of his collegiate career.

Before waiving Owens, the 49ers signed him as a free agent after he went undrafted during the 2024 NFL Draft.

The NFL community is still waiting to see what the 49ers do with fellow wideout Brandon Aiyuk. They've been in talks with the Pittsburgh Steelers about a trade but so far, nothing has been agreed upon.

There have been lots of rumors but nothing is done until it is done.

The 49ers are coming off a loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LVIII but are hoping to get back to the next Super Bowl this upcoming season.
