Welcome to another eWrestlingNews Question of the Day!

It’s time for the annual WWE New Year’s Evil special event on tonight’s episode of NXT. As it’s a notch below a pay-per-view, but above a regular edition, it’s worth giving some predictions for, as there are a lot of titles on the line and this could be a rather big episode.

My question for you today is “Who do you think will win tonight on NXT New Year’s Evil?”

Remember to answer with your response in the comments below.

As far as my answer…

The Rock’s Appearance

Obviously, The Rock isn’t going to wrestle, so what is he going to talk about? My guess is he has a backstage segment with Ava, threatens to lay the smackdown on Eddy Thorpe, and at most, introduces Lance Anoa’i and/or Hikuleo to the mix.

NXT Women's Championship Match: Roxanne Perez (c) vs. Giulia

We’re getting a title change here. I’m fairly sure of it. I’ve mentioned many times how WWE has gotten into a habit of booking people to lose a title opportunity, come back around to being No. 1 contender again, and then, they win it on the second go-around. It’s happened enough in the past 3 years that it is about as predictable as when someone falls to the outside, you know they’re cutting to a commercial break, or when someone stands tall before a pay-per-view on the go-home show, they’re likely to lose on the event itself.

Giulia wins the title and Roxanne Perez moves up to the main roster by the time we get out of the draft.

NXT Women's North American Championship No. 1 Contender's Fatal 4-Way Match: Cora Jade vs. Lola Vice vs. Kelani Jordan vs. Stephanie Vaquer

It’s not going to be Cora Jade, as that wouldn’t make sense for her to fight Fallon Henley. I don’t think Kelani Jordan makes a lot of sense either, as she had the title before and has had some opportunities to win it back. It’s time to move on past her for this particular title. Between Vice and Vaquer, either of them could win and it wouldn’t shock me. I’m going to say that Vice gets the nod, though, but I’m only about 51/49 in that direction. You could really flip a coin.

NXT Heritage Cup Sudden Death Match: Lexis King (c) vs. Charlie Dempsey

The way the title changed hands was not at all how I figured. I’m more perplexed about where they go with this storyline than anything else on this card, funny enough. Is it as simple as William Regal helping out Charlie Dempsey, he wins the title back, and that’s it? That’s where I’m leaning, but that just feels so anticlimactic. Then again, I don’t know what I would do in their shoes with Lexis King if he were to retain it, either.

Six-Woman Tag Team Match: Fatal Influence (Fallon Henley, Jazmyn Nyx, & Jacy Jayne) vs. Shotzi, Tatum Paxley, and Gigi Dolin

Give the win to the babyfaces. Let this tension between Fallon Henley and Jacy Jayne boil over and start to get in the way of their success. They’re reaching the point where they need to move up to the main roster, and I don’t think Henley’s keeping that title through WrestleMania season. Maybe it’s worth splitting them up ahead of time and putting Jacy in some multi-woman match for this belt at Stand & Deliver. Or maybe I’m just thinking far too ahead and this is as simple as Fatal Influence winning since they’re the heel group that drives stories forward. But I’ll go with Paxley & Friends winning.

NXT Championship Triple Threat Match: Trick Williams (c) vs. Oba Femi vs. Eddy Thorpe

I’m 100% confident the plan here is for Trick Williams to retain by pinning Eddy Thorpe so Oba Femi loses, but doesn’t actually lose. That way, he can claim Trick never truly beat him, they can either outright give him another shot or he can earn it again, and we once again have the “second time’s the charm” approach, where Trick drops the title to Femi on the Road to WrestleMania 41, either at Vengeance Day, Roadblock, Stand & Deliver, or whatever PLE/special they plan on having.

What do you think? Drop your thoughts below!
