Welcome to another eWrestlingNews Question of the Day!

Five matches are scheduled for WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event. We can safely assume the main event of the show will be Cody Rhodes against Kevin Owens for the Undisputed WWE Championship. But what should open the program?

My question for you today is “Which match do you think WWE should put first at SNME?”

Remember to answer with your response in the comments below.

As far as my answer…

If the thumbnail didn’t spoil my answer already, I’m going with the Triple Threat for the World Heavyweight Championship.

I think WWE should start off hot, and this will be one of the biggest matches of the show, not only because it’s a title bout, but because it features some more colorful characters. This is supposed to attract some first-time or casual viewers who may not be aware of these guys, and if you start off with Damian Priest and Finn Balor coming out, before unveiling Gunther as the champion, and they start slugging away, I think that could be a good starter.

Since that will end with Gunther retaining, I think the safest bet is to follow this up with an immediate announcement about how there will definitively be a new champion crowned with the Women’s United States Championship tournament final. Not only does that offset anyone who might be annoyed that they watched a champion retain, but putting a graphic of the girls (particularly Tiffany Stratton) on the screen for eye candy purposes—because, yes, while many fans are past that point, casuals are not, and no matter how much we want to act like we’re “better than that now” in 2024, sex sells and always will, and it’s just smart to capitalize on it—that, plus a guaranteed title change, is a good hook.

From there, switch to Drew McIntyre against Sami Zayn, follow it with Liv Morgan retaining over Iyo Sky, and send everyone home happy with Cody Rhodes beating Kevin Owens.

What do you think? Drop your thoughts below!
