Fightful Select is reporting that Vince McMahon changed the finish of a match at WrestleMania 39 shortly before he resigned from WWE for good.

After stepping down in 2022, McMahon still continued to influence WWE shows. In early 2023, this impact was visible on the Road To WrestleMania. Several wrestlers were not featured on WWE TV, and changes were made to shows.

At WrestleMania 39, 'The Demon' Finn Balor was originally supposed to defeat Edge in the Hell In A Cell match. This would have ended a feud that began with Edge creating The Judgment Day.

However, McMahon wanted Edge to win and pushed for the change, even though the Rated R Superstar wanted to put over Balor.

It is unclear when Balor and Edge learned about the original plans or the change, but this information is usually communicated on the day of the show.

Regarding Cody Rhodes' loss to Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39, that decision was made well in advance, though McMahon supported it.

McMahon also made several changes to the RAW after WrestleMania 39 the following night, with one source describing him as a “Tasmanian Devil” because of how much he altered the script.

McMahon ultimately parted ways with WWE/TKO in January 2024.
