Rob Van Dam is one of a select few wrestlers to become WWE Champion, but the Hall of Famer prefers his lengthy run as ECW Television Champion.

On a recent edition of his “1 Of A Kind” podcast, RVD why he preferred his record-long reign during his tenure in ECW. He said,

“That was the most fun — part of the fun was being at that stage of my career, building my name, exuding my brand, getting it out into people's minds… When I had my TV championship in ECW for almost two years, I had my most fun matches. I felt the most comfortable. I felt like I was in control as an artist.”

Van Dam compared this positive feeling to his reign as WWE Champion from 2006 that ended too quickly for him to remember all the details. He said,

“When I won the WWE Championship and was the ECW Champion, it's easy to remember that title run because it was so damn short. I actually don't remember all the matches that I had within those couple weeks or whatever.”

Though RVD’s time as WWE Champion was short, the former champion said he was pleased that he reached the top of WWE his way.

Rob Van Dam lost the title in July 2006 after being arrested for possession of marijuana. He would lose the ECW World Championship the next night.
