WWE's decision to temporarily extend SmackDown to three hours has sparked significant discussion, with many initially expecting it to benefit underutilized talent. However, backstage reports indicate dissatisfaction among WWE's production and creative teams, as the extended runtime has led to a decline in show quality rather than improving storytelling. Similar concerns arose when RAW transitioned to three hours in 2012, often resulting in pacing issues and filler content.

WrestleVotes is reporting that the extension is not permanent, with WWE reportedly planning to return SmackDown to its two-hour format around June, following WrestleMania 41.
