Earlier this year, the Oklahoma State Athletic Commission issued a warning to AEW regarding Nyla Rose’s participation in a women’s wrestling match.

Nyla, who is a transgender woman, competed against Alejandra Lion at the ROH tapings in December 2023.

In a recent interview with AEW broadcaster Renee Paquette, Rose discussed the substantial support she received from fans, attributing it to her transition to a positive character on television.

She said, "It's such a crazy, crazy situation. It definitely caught me blindsided, I had no idea any of that was going on. But kudos to our company and our team who were like the ozone layer up there protecting me and I guess us from it. I had no idea that was even going on. They were like, 'Hey, something is coming out, you should be aware of this.' [I only found out] right before, only because it was gonna hit the news news. Our team was up there defending and protecting. I was frustrated because it forced me to turn baby [laughs]. I had some very evil plans on the table and everybody was so nice and loving and accepting that I had no choice. Evil cloak has been put away for a while, I owe you guys because you were so good to me.”

Rose, a former AEW Women’s World Champion, lost to Kris Statlander in the Owen Hart Foundation 2024 Women’s Tournament Quarter Final.
