Mercedes Mone Reveals AEW's Most Underrated Women, Deonna Purrazzo Speaks Out

Mercedes Mone was a recent guest on Josh Martinez's “Superstar Crossover” podcast to discuss a variety of topics, including some of her favorite performers to watch and AEW’s most underrated female performers.

On her favorite performers to watch: "I love anything Marufuji from Pro Wrestling NOAH, I love AJ Styles, I love Claudio Castagnoli … I like Zack Sabre Jr., I love his technique and different styles, Mistico down in CMLL, there's so many different matches that I love watching and it's just hard to choose just one because there's so many companies."

On AEW's most underrated female performers: "I think Willow is such a superstar, I think she's going to be something so massive she just has to keep on being herself … Toni Storm is killing it, Thunder Rosa has such a hunger and a fight for more. Sky Blue, working her butt off every single week, anything that's asked of her she does and more for the women in the locker room so I can just go down that list there's so many."

Deonna Purrazzo faced off against Mickie James in TNA Wrestling’s first women's pay-per-view main event at Hard To Kill 2022, and she recently looked back at the match. She said,

"We were the first ever Knockouts World Championship match to main event a pay-per-view. Couple that with the probably first ever women's Texas Death match in a major professional wrestling company, there was so much pressure on us to deliver. And I felt totally out of my element. I wasn't sure, like 'Does this work? Does this work or how do I do this?’"

She continued, “But to do that alongside Mickie James, who's iconic, she's done it all everywhere, was kind of a settling feeling. We had really earned that main event spot for the women. We had earned the story to do a Texas Death Match. It was just the perfect storm and culmination that I felt like, again, was that do or die moment."
