AEW wrestler Max Caster has rolled back his support for an angle featuring Drew Gulak that saw the ex-WWE Superstar reference a recent controversy.
The angle in question took place at a Beyond Wrestling event and saw Gulak ask Masha Slamovich if he’d ever made her feel uncomfortable or unsafe.
When Slamovich said he hadn’t, Gulak attacked her, stating that she should have felt unsafe around him.
Fans have criticized the angle for referencing Ronda Rousey’s claims against Gulak after he pulled on the drawstring of her sweatpants.
Rousey said earlier this year that Gulak made her feel uncomfortable. On Twitter, Caster shared the following message which was deleted after a backlash.
The topic of women’s safety in wrestling has been spotlighted in recent years given the Vince McMahon scandal and Janel Grant’s lawsuit.
Gulak left WWE earlier this year though Triple H has claimed his contract expired and was not renewed rather than Gulak being released.
