Karrion Kross Wants To Be A Producer, Praises The Miz & Adam Cole
Today at 11:46 PM
During a recent appearance on the “Chazz Palminteri Show,” Karrion Kross expressed his desire to write and produce wrestling later in his career, probably in the next five to ten years.
Kross said, "I still see myself in the business. In what capacity? I would love to sit here and tell you I'm still in the ring. I'm very healthy, I don't have any major injuries. I have gotten hurt before. But I take good care of myself. I could see myself…one day, seriously, I would really love to write and produce some sort of wrestling. I come up with good ideas for people all the time, and I don't want anything for them. I just give them away because I think the better our show is, the better it is for everybody.”
During a recent appearance on the “NotSam Wrestling” podcast, Karrion Kross discussed various pro wrestling topics, including his original main roster costume, The Miz, Adam Cole, and more.
You can check out some highlights from the podcast below:
On his original main roster costume: "I was really surprised because I wanted to get the most I could out of NXT and do my best work. I wasn't by any means trying to phone anything in, but I was trying to demonstrate a type of work rate, ethic, and character IQ to go to main roster. I feel everybody is trying to do that. I tried to develop something that I thought would work on the absolute biggest stage while I was there. When we went up and it was dismantled, I had tons of people telling me different types of theories and reasons as to why it happened. None of them had to do with me. I just didn't know what to do. I had this thing in the back of my head of, 'they've given me a pro wrestler's dream run in NXT. Now they are asking me to do this one thing that I think is absolutely stupid. I should probably just do it.' In my head, I thought, 'How ungrateful, how silly would it look, as a professional, to say no after I've been given so many unique opportunities?' That was my mentality at the time. There was so much uncertainty and many weird things going on. I thought the outfit looked cartoony. I spoke to some people and they were like, 'They're considering doing Halloween costumes.' That's weird. Who wants to dress up as that? I thought, 'Okay, they want to merchandise this. This is an opportunity for me to demonstrate, on a measurable metric, that I can draw a unique revenue for the company that maybe other wrestlers can't.' I tried to lean into it as much as I could. Even the writing team was like, 'We need to get you out of this.' I agree. They tried a lot of different things.”
On The Miz: "Mike is brilliant. You can never give that guy enough flowers. I say that sincerely. His IQ for the business will never be understood unless you're working with him and you know him. He is so self-aware and so smart and he really understands what the audience wants to see out of him. He's secure with himself. If he wants to be the butt end of a joke, he can handle it. He knows who he is and can do that. If he has to be the cruelest person you have ever seen in your life and break a man's heart and strip him down, he can do that too. On a whim, you can put a belt on him and it doesn't look strange. On Monday, some sort of strange thing happens and he gets a World Title match against GUNTHER and rolls him up and pulls his tights. With him you can literally do anything. He's like a swiss army knife. Working with him is, the way I think about things, is light years ahead."
On his promo with Adam Cole in NXT: "It was a weird day. I knew it was going to be a good promo. What they wanted out of that was for people to believe it was true. The way they had to keep people alive there, since I was on a murder run, was they had to get over the character somehow and some capacity. Give them mic time and let them look strong and stay strong in that capacity. I didn't feel any particular way about it. I thought, at the time, it was strange that they didn't want me to get it back. Then, that became a thing. Johnny (Gargano) would do that the following week. Okay, now I understand what's going on. It wasn't thoroughly explained to me at the time, but they needed everybody in the match (to be strong). It didn't strike me, personally."
