WWE RAW Superstar Damian Priest is still shocked that the promotion trusted him enough to make him World Heavyweight Champion this year.

Priest won the gold by cashing in his Money in the Bank briefcase at WrestleMania 40, ending the brief World Championship reign of Drew McIntyre.

Speaking with Buster for Q102 Philly, Priest was asked for his thoughts on having his name in WWE’s history books as a World Champion. He said,

"It's wild to me. It's still one of those 'I still can't believe it's real' type of things. I can't believe that actually happened. It's still wild to me, the idea that I was World Champion, that I'm in the history books. You can't take that away. It's just one of those, I can't believe this happened. Forever grateful."

"The idea that somebody years from now…it's kind of another one of those, 'I did it, I made it' moments. Because since I started with WWE, my whole thing was 'live forever' because I wanted my name to live forever. I think I'm good [laughs]."

Priest’s reign would see him retain the title against McIntyre at WWE Clash At The Castle: Scotland, thanks to interference from CM Punk.

Damian Priest’s reign ended at WWE SummerSlam 2024 where he lost the gold to GUNTHER after Priest was betrayed by Finn Balor.

Priest hasn’t competed since defeating Balor at WWE Bad Blood on October 5. He has since declared his intention to become World Champion again.
