Chris Jericho has enjoyed a lengthy career in wrestling, and he revealed his remaining goals for the future.
In a recent interview with TMZ, the ROH World Champion discussed his remaining goals in the business.
Jericho said, "I mean, it's just to continue to do memorable things and to create new memories for people and continue to evolve in this business that I've been in love with since I was a teenager. So if you're looking at facts and figures, there's really nothing left to accomplish for me. If you're looking for just continuing to enjoy what I'm doing and create, like I said, cool moments for people to remember and cheer for or boofor, whatever it may be. That's basically what I have left to accomplish. That's on a nightly basis. Cause I don't take anything lightly and I don't phone anything in or half a*s anything."
He continued, "So anytime I accept, like I said earlier, if this is your mission, if you choose to accept it, well, you better give a thousand percent. Cause that's what people are paying their hard earned money for, especially before Christmas. I want to give them, you know, an early Christmas present and a show that they can remember knowing that just in a couple of days, they're going to have to spend more money for other gigs. or whatever it may be. So there's so much to do in this day and age, and there's so many ways for people to get entertainment that when they choose us, we want to make sure that they leave very, very happy, and that's always been my goal."
During a recent appearance on the “Busted Open Radio” podcast ahead of ROH Final Battle 2024, Chris Jericho stated he doesn't have a strong connection to the ROH brand and lacks in-depth knowledge of its history.
The ROH World Champion admitted he's not "a nostalgia guy."
On his lack of connection with the ROH brand: "I'm kinda the wrong guy to ask [about Ring of Honor history]. It seemed like the extension of ECW … and the lineage of guys who went through there were next level. Nostalgia-wise, I'm not a nostalgia guy. Maybe you might want to bring in some guys who used to work there but a lot of those guys are still in the business so maybe Bryan Danielson or someone like that. For me, it's more about what we're doing now."
On how much press he's gotten Ring of Honor as champion after just a few weeks: "I've been on Ring of Honor three weeks in a row, I think it's the most press Ring of Honor has gotten [since his last title reign]. Tony [Khan] has a plan for what he wants to do with it and I'm happy to be involved."
During a recent appearance on the “Z100” podcast, Chris Jericho elaborated on AEW’s strategy of hosting more events in mid-sized venues.
On AEW running more venues like Hammerstein Ballroom: "The worst thing you can ever do, in any business, is overprice yourself or overextend yourself. We're at a place where, to go to some of the middle-sized venues, not in every city, but in some of them, it's a very smart move for many reasons, but most importantly, the vibe of the fans. You want to put 10,000 people into an arena, and if you can, you do. If you're down to 5,000, but you go to a 4,000 seat arena, it increases demand and makes the show more exciting and translates better on TV."
On why AEW is moving to more middle-sized venues: "Right now, with all of the different choices that people have to buy tickets to go shows, we're smart to move to different sized venues because it makes it cooler. We have always had the cool factor in AEW, especially when we started. Then going into the pandemic and coming out of the pandemic. One way is the supply and demand. If you have this many tickets for sale and they're gone, it makes the product hotter and you continue to grow."
