Former WWE Champion AJ Styles returned to WWE TV on this week’s episode of SmackDown and faced Carmelo Hayes. However, the match was halted when it appeared Styles had suffered an injury, leading to Hayes being announced as the victor.

According to sources, Styles is not hurt, and the segment was an injury angle. The Phenomenal One is doing fine and is not legitimately injured.

Chad Barbash was internally listed as the writer for Styles' promo segment. Robert Roode produced Styles' return promo and the AJ Styles vs. Carmelo Hayes match.
