WWE will finally air a lost ECW show filmed at the ECW arena in 2006.
In 2006, WWE brought back the beloved cult wrestling promotion Extreme Championship Wrestling. The company became a huge hit in the 1990s when run by Paul Heyman, creating stars like Tazz, Rob Van Dam and Tommy.
However, they went under and shut down in 2001. Vince McMahon promptly bought up all the company’s assets. Following that, ECW joined WCW in the failed Invasion angle.
It was rebooted for two one-off shows in 2005 and 2006 before WWE decided to bring ECW back as its own brand. With stars like CM Punk, Rob Van Dam and Kurt Angle involved, it looked to be a promising show.
One of these events, from the famed ECW Arena in June 2006, is set to air on the WWE Vault YouTube channel. This show has never been aired before and is the latest in a long line of lost media being released by the channel.
The show features a mix of old and new ECW stars. One notable name is CM Punk, who is said to have entered to AFI’s Miseria Cantare for the first time in the WWE. He wrestled Stevie Richards during the event, while the likes of Sandman, Big Show and Sabu also took to the ring.
PWInsider revealed the whole card for the show, which is:
- Rob Van Dam vs. Kurt Angle with Dean Malenko as the special referee.
- Sabu vs. CW Anderson.
- Big Show vs. Tommy Dreamer.
- Paul Heyman addresses the fans.
- CM Punk vs. Stevie Richards.
- Balls Mahoney vs. Mike Knox.
- The FBI vs. Danny Doring & Roadkill.
- Sandman vs. Justin Credible.
- Francine, Kelly Kelly and Trinity in an Extreme Bikini Contest.
The ECW show will be released by WWE Vault on Saturday.
