Triple H reveals that John Cena is going to wrestle “a lot” in his final year in wrestling.

Cena is embarking on his final run in wrestling and will retire at the end of 2025. He is already confirmed for matches at the Royal Rumble, Elimination Chamber and WrestleMania 41, but Triple H confirms his schedule will be packed in 2025.

Triple H spoke with Sports Illustrated about John Cena’s last run in wrestling. He revealed that the 16-time WWE Champion will wrestle a lot in 2025, including TV, live events and PLE events all over the world.

“I’ll say this: John is of a different mindset for sure. He's the most disciplined guy I’ve ever met. So, when he says, ‘This is it, I'm done,’ I believe him. I think he'll always be a part of WWE—it's in his DNA. He'll always do stuff with us and remain connected. But as an in-ring performer, I think when he's done, he's done.”

“What the year will look like, we're still figuring it out. Obviously, John's very busy, but he has made this his prime commitment for the year. He's all in. He's going to make some live events, he's going to make TVs—not everything, of course, because that's about supply and demand. He'll do select premium live events, he's going to wrestle a lot, and he's going to perform a lot.”

“It's essentially a one-calendar-year thing, and then he's going to call it a day. So, when you see him at the Royal Rumble, that's his last Royal Rumble. You see him at Elimination Chamber? That's his last Chamber. WrestleMania? His last one. For all the stuff he's part of, it'll be the last time.”

Triple H: John Cena Is The Template Of A Professional Performer

“It's not about, ‘I've got to main event WrestleMania one more time,’ or, ‘I've got to be the main event of this TV show,’ or, ‘I've got to win the title again.’ It's none of that.” Triple H said. “It's one last loop, one last tour that lasts a year. It's one last time to go to all those big markets that mean something to him.”

“When John and I talk about this, he says, ‘Whatever works best for WWE. You guys plug me into whatever you think is best for the company.’ And that's John—he just wants it to be great. I want it to be great for him, too. I want it to be great for the fans. But most of all, I want John, when he gets to the end of this one-year run, to say, ‘That was the perfect out. That was the perfect last run. I did all the things I wanted to do. I performed the way I wanted to perform.'”

“When he gets to the end, I want him to feel fulfilled and satisfied. He's earned that as much, if not more, than anyone else. He's earned it.”

“John is the template of a professional performer. You see guys like Cody Rhodes mirroring that now because John set that standard. He deserves all the praise he gets—greatest of all time, face of the Ruthless Aggression Era—all of it. It's all accurate.”

“He really is the consummate pro in our business. He always does what's right for the company, whether or not it's what's right for him. And I just want it to be right for him on the way out. That's the thing I'm leaning on the most.”
