Danhausen has not wrestled or appeared on AEW programming in almost a year. A new report provides an update on his absence and his status with the company.

Danhausen last wrestled on AEW programming at AEW Worlds End 2023 in December. He then worked an ROH taping in February. Otherwise, he has been active on the independent scene ever since.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful (of Fightful Select) reports that there have not been conversations about bringing Danhausen back to AEW TV for “quite some time.” Sapp cites sources who say that the two sides have not been in regular contact in over six months, aside from approvals for his independent dates.

The report notes that Danhausen was set to return from injury about a year ago. When plans changed, he subsequently expressed his frustration to Tony Khan. Sapp writes that there were a few pitches to potentially bring him back. Plus, Bryan Danielson was a “big proponent” of his, and he pushed for some ideas for him. Nothing came of these plans, but Danhausen was said to be willing to return to AEW.

More Details

Sapp also cites sources who said that AEW believed that Danhausen wanted to prioritize his independent wrestling dates over wrestling on AEW Collision. Meanwhile, sources noted that Danhausen indicated to AEW that there were family-related reasons that changed as the year went on, which altered his availability. Sapp writes that AEW had seen Danhausen working on the independent scene, and they believed that he did not want to work Collision dates.

Additionally, Sapp writes that Danhausen’s AEW contract runs into the summer of 2025. There are no creative plans for him as of right now.

WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
