Matt and Jeff Hardy want to help Leon Slater navigate the world of professional wrestling.

The Hardys, the current TNA World Tag Team Champions, recently spoke with WrestleZone Managing Editor Bill Pritchard. During the conversation, they mentioned picking Slater for their team at TNA Sacrifice. Matt said he sees Slater as a protégé of sorts, similar to his relationship with Private Party in AEW. He pointed out Slater not only a great talent, but he’s a great guy, too.

"I do, and I think Jeff does as well. Because Jeff has an even more vested interest in Leon, I think because Jeff was Leon's favorite wrestler growing up. His whole Swanton 450 that he does is kind of like an homage to Jeff. Leon is a great guy," Matt Hardy explained. "He's 20 years old. He's crazy athletic and he gets it. He gets the idea of how you need to be physical and there needs to be aggression in what you're doing for there to be a level of believability in it that you need.

"That's something that Michael Hayes instilled in both of us," Matt continued. "And yes, I do think Leon is someone that we would like to help and teach and do all that we can to give him all of the 'later in wrestling' lessons that we can to help him progress his movement. And he's a great guy on top of all this."

Jeff agreed, calling the group "like a 2025 version of Team Extreme."

Leon Slater will be in singles action this week against Nic Nemeth, who turned on the Hardys at TNA Sacrifice.

Matt Hardy believes TNA needs more solid storytellers like The Colons

Leon Slater is one of the many names who are new to TNA. The Colons, who are best known for their nearly ten-year run in WWE, recently made a surprise appearance at TNA’s live Impact taping in February.

The Hardys were asked about talent seeing "surprise" wrestlers at tapings, and Matt said it’s always good to see familiar peers show up. He praised the Colons for their talent, adding that their appearance highlights pro wrestling’s "anything can happen" nature.

"I think you're always happy when you see people that you've worked with. Especially people that you get along with. And you feel like you have a kindred bond in many ways. I spent a lot of time with [them], so it was great to see those guys show up," Matt explained. "And I think they are extremely talented. They are of the mentality that we need to have in TNA I think. Because there are a lot of guys in TNA that are extremely athletic and acrobatic like Leon and there's a lot of guys like that, X-Division guys, whatnot. But I think we need guys that are solid workers and storytellers. And they're really strong in the fundamentals. And those two guys truly are. Especially because they're born and bred from Carlos Colón.

"Pro Wrestling is at its best when it is unpredictable," Matt continued. "And the unpredictability that comes along with the TNA, WWE/NXT working agreement is just is off the charts. It's been so good. I mean, just the match between Oba Femi and Moose. Who would've expected to see that? So, that was just a such a cool moment. Such a cool match. Us versus Fraxiom. We loved that man. New York City, thank you so much. They were so great to us. They treated us so good. And we had a blast. Fraxiom is just an off-the-charts talented team as well."
