JBL says WWE Tribute to the Troops is an important thing to do.

2024 marked the first year that WWE did not hold WWE Tribute to the Troops, dating back to its debut in 2003.

On the latest episode of Something to Wrestle, JBL reflected on the origins of WWE Tribute to the Troops. Near the end of the show, he highlighted its legacy and said that he thought it was important to carry on.

“It’s just been such a cool legacy, such a cool thing to do,” JBL said. “I know there’s been some detractors out there, and that’s fine. And I’m sure some of the criticisms are true, but overall, the Tribute to the Troops, it’s been one of the greatest things I’ve ever been blessed to be a part of, and most people would agree that it has been. I’m glad they’re still doing it.

“They still call me around and say ‘Hey, would you come back and do commentary for Tribute to the Troops?’ I’m always happy to do it. There’s not a big war going on, so it’s not the need to encourage guys around Christmas, which was our whole goal then. But I think it’s important to carry on, just to let people know that we support these guys. Whether you agree with the war or not, these guys are out there doing their jobs because they’re American. Because they believe that’s the right thing to do, and that’s what they’re paid to do, and I believe that’s worthy of support.”
