House Of Black Member Has Reportedly Signed A New AEW Contract

AEW will keep another star under contract as they move closer to securing a new media rights deal.

That star is Buddy Matthews, who made a name for himself in WWE as Buddy Murphy, where he held the Raw & NXT Tag Team and Cruiserweight titles before his departure in June 2021. He went to work for MLW and NJPW before going to AEW in February 2022.

After signing with AEW, he was aligned with Malakai Black and Brody King in House of Black. Together, they've found success. While together, they’ve held the Trios titles once.

Some have speculated that Matthews may return to WWE once his AEW deal is up, as he is dating Rhea Ripley. The couple got engaged in August 2023. However, that is not the case.

Ibou of WrestlePurists reported that the Australian has re-signed with AEW. The AEW star has yet to publicly comment on his contract status.

As for Black, AEW President Tony Khan told Busted Open Radio in July 2022 that Black had "almost five years" left on his contract, meaning he's in AEW until 2027.
