David Causier defeated Peter Gilchrist 875-388 in the final of the 2025 World Billiards UK Championship at the Landywood Snooker Club in Walsall, England.
The current world number one continued the fine form that had seen him win nine ranking events in 2024 to secure the first title of the new year.
A total of 56 players from six nations contested the three-day event which was staged at the same venue as the 2024 World Billiards Championship in October.
Causier had been crowned the champion on that occasion and once again showed imperious form to storm through his group with a clean sweep of victories over fellow countrymen Terry McAdam, Phil Johnson, John Metcalfe and Jimmy Gratton.
The tournament high break, a contribution of 363, then helped Causier to a phenomenal 1,008-85 victory over Ian White in the last 16 before he followed this up with an even more dominant success against Jonathan Marwood by a winning margin of 956 points.
The semi-final saw a repeat of the 2024 World Billiards Championship as Causier faced English national champion Robert Hall.
Hall gave the world number one his toughest challenge of the weekend, coming within 65 points of Causier, but the 51-year-old ultimately proved too strong as he ran out a 480-415 victor to reach the title match.
Singapore representative Gilchrist ensured the final would see the top two players in the world go head-to-head by beating Nathan Mann, Barry Russell and Peter Sheehan in the knockout stages.
A top break of 302, as well three further centuries, ensured that Causier made the perfect start to the new year as he overcame Gilchrist 875-388 to secure the UK Championship crown.
The World Billiards season continues with the Sydney Open at Club Marconi in Sydney, Australia on 31 January – 2 February. Full calendar.
