Tommy Fury has completely and utterly dumfounded fans by revealing the bizarre weight class he’ll be fighting Darren Till at.
The pair of British stars are set to go head-to-head on January 18, inside the 23,500-seater Co-op Live in Manchester, UK.
Tommy Fury and Darren Till will fight at heavyweight
The match-up between Tommy Fury and Darren Till came completely out of left field, with the combat sports community left surprised when the announcement was made.
Yet, there’s something deeply intriguing about the collision.
While the clash will be compared to Jake Paul’s many ventures into the ring with MMA stars, there’s something different about this.
Till isn’t in his forties, nor is he a grappler desperately trying to learn how to box. Instead, he’s a seasoned striker with a high-level background in Muay Thai, which might give him a chance of upsetting the apple cart.

However, the most puzzling aspect about the whole thing so far is that Fury told The Stomping Ground, that the two men will meet at heavyweight.
During his time in MMA, Till competed in the welterweight division of 170 pounds before moving up to middleweight at 185 pounds.
Meanwhile, when the brother of the former WBC heavyweight champion turned professional, he boxed at 175 pounds, before moving up to the cruiserweight limit of 200 pounds.
With both men renowned for their slick footwork, the last thing they need is to be carrying around extra timber that could debilitate their movement. Therefore, the fighter who adapts to the division better could end up with a huge advantage.
And it looks like the fans are perplexed, with one writing: “Why would he (Tommy) do that?” Another added: “Why are these two fighting at heavyweight? Surely 185 pounds makes more sense?”
Tommy Fury returns from a brutal injury to fight Darren Till
After beating KSI, Fury had to deal with a hand injury so devastating, it could’ve prevented him from ever lacing up the gloves again.
In an interview with The Daily Mail, the 25-year-old explained: “It’s been the hardest year of my life. I’ve never had a year like it. There have been ups and downs, but at the end of the day, I’m here.
“Starting the year out, I was in a hospital bed, and the doctor said if I didn’t fix this now, I probably wouldn’t box again. To be honest, it was that bad.
“The surgery was the best way to do it, and it’s healed well. I’m just grateful to be standing here with a healthy hand.”
