Former middleweight champion Robert Whittaker has had issues with his teeth since he was a teenager.  He recalls being unable to bite into an apple since he was 19.

Whittaker faced the unbeaten Khamzat Chimaev in the UFC 308 co-main event on Oct. 26 and suffered a gruesome injury.  Chimaev submitted Whittaker in the first round via face crank that left Whittaker's bottom row of teeth pushed in.

"It's a tough gig sometimes but that's the business," Whittaker wrote on Instagram after this loss. "Big congratulations to Khamzat, he was the better man tonight and that's all there is to it. I felt great, everything was on point and I was ready. My jaw is good, but my teeth were moved in. It's a good excuse to fix them properly now."

In an interview on the MMArcade Podcast, Whittaker revealed that he had his bottom row of teeth removed.

"They've [my bottom teeth] always been crap, like, I haven't been able to bite down on an apple since I was 19," Whittaker revealed. " ... They're just gone, don't need them, my life is better without them... Fun fact though, when they took them out they found a massive cyst in my jaw, and they think that might have been where the infections were coming from for the teeth."
