'Powerbomb!'… Daniel Cormier goes crazy after fighter pulls off rarely-seen slam at UFC Mexico City

Daniel Cormier couldn’t hide his excitement when a rarely-seen wrestling move made an appearance at UFC Mexico City.
The card, headlined by Brandon Moreno vs Steve Erceg, got off to a controversial start when fans complained that an ‘absolute robbery‘ occurred during MarQuel Mederos’s split decision win over Austin Hubbard.
That fight followed Joe Pyfer’s last-minute withdrawal from his highly anticipated clash with Kelvin Gastelum.
Thankfully, UFC Mexico City perked up during a strawweight clash between Loopy Godinez and Julia Polastri.
Daniel Cormier goes wild about powerbomb at UFC Mexico City
About a minute into Godinez vs Polastri, the hometown favorite sensationally defended a kick attempt.
Godinez caught the foot before propelling Polastri into the air and slamming her to the Octagon floor.
“Powerbomb,” UFC commentator Daniel Cormier screamed down the mic. “That was a powerbomb there by Loopy. I love that.
“The last time I saw a fighter get slammed like that was when Rose Namajunas got knocked out by Jessica Andrade.”
At the end of round one, Cormier took his chance to rewatch Godinez’s powerbomb in slow motion.
“Godinez catches the leg,” he said. “Most people would run her to the Octagon, but not when you're Psycho Sid. She goes up and she goes down to the big-time slam.
“Let it run, boys. Up and boom with the Psycho Sid powerbomb. That is so crazy!
“I haven't seen that in the Octagon for a long time.”
