Logan Paul wanted to work with Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather years before ever boxing, and now may become the only man to have fought both.
The social media star was one of millions who tuned in to watch the 2017 boxing fight between McGregor and Mayweather, which the American won. In a video blog on the day of the bout, he revealed to his audience for the first time that he had harboured ambitions of being an MMA fighter.
However, he ended up going a different route and not finding fighting until much later in life. Now, he and his brother Jake Paul are major names in the boxing world, and have landed big money fights in the ring, with McGregor announcing during the week that he has agreed to face the elder sibling in India next year.

Logan Paul wanted to ‘make content’ with Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather after 2017 fight
During 2017, Logan Paul and his brother Jake were making daily video blogs on their YouTube channels, garnering massive audiences for their various antics. And in the August 27 episode of his show, the elder sibling showed off a viewing party he was holding at his Los Angeles apartment.
He predicted a Floyd Mayweather victory over Conor McGregor, as many experts did, but applauded the Irishman for making it ten rounds in a brand new sport. And he noted that he was hopeful he could one day make some sort of content with either man.
Now, eight years on, he looks to be in talks for an exhibition boxing match of his own with McGregor, after already sharing the ring with Mayweather in the summer of 2021. If he can get that fight over the line, he’ll become the first man to have fought both of the legendary champions.
“Both of you athletes are legends, I have the utmost respect for both of you,” he said during the video, which has been viewed over 7.2million times. “Mayweather, congratulations, 50-0, bro, you’re going down in the books, you’re making history bro.
“McGregor, stepping out of your comfort zone to do boxing when you’re an MMA fighter, that’s unheard of, bro. History was made tonight.
“With that said, both of you athletes are straight up Mavericks… Congratulations guys, I hope to make a piece of content with either you Floyd Mayweather or Conor McGregor one day.”
Logan and Jake Paul called out Conor McGregor in 2018 before boxing debuts
Fast forward a year, and the Paul brothers were making boxing debuts of their own at the Manchester Arena in the UK. Logan took on KSI, while Jake faced his rival’s younger brother Deji in a pair of bouts that drew massive attention.
Logan and KSI’s fight ended in a draw, and the Brit won the rematch. Meanwhile Jake won his fight with a dominant stoppage, and would go on to start a professional career that continued to this day and has seen him take out the likes of Mike Tyson, Nate Diaz and Tyron Woodley.
And days before they stepped into the ring for the first time, the Paul brothers were stopped by TMZ Sports at LAX Airport. There, Jake laid out the first call for a fight with McGregor, which would become a theme of both men’s careers going forward.
“I think it would be dope to see one of us fight McGregor,” Jake told the news outlet after his brother had disclosed that their wrestling backgrounds made them more suitable for a UFC fight than the boxing ring.
Logan then joked “that’s what I said bro, because we’ve got weight,” before Jake added: “If the Floyd thing happened…” However, Logan noted that they would need to ‘prove themselves’ before they could ever step into a cage or ring with the Irishman.
Now, Conor McGregor has agreed to face Logan Paul in $100million+ super-fight
For the duration of Jake’s fighting career, the pair have been unable to get McGregor to bite on any sort of fight talks at all. He has seemed more keen, if anything, on facing KSI, and is also looking to return to the octagon for a more serious fight, likely with Michael Chandler.
However, on Tuesday the Irishman stunned fans on social media when he announced that preliminary agreements were in place for an exhibition bout with the elder Paul. The event would be funded by the billionaire Ambani family, and take place in their native India.
In a viral tweet, he wrote: “The rumors of a bout with Topurio are false. I am in preliminary agreements with the Ambani family to face Logan Paul in a boxing exhibition in India. I have agreed. I will then seek my return to the Octagon.”
He has followed this up with claims that the bout will surpass his fight with Mayweather to net him a new career-high payout, telling fans: “TKO Group! UFC vs WWE. There is levels to this, a big sloppy novice is going to find out! TKO KING TITLE
“#BiggestGenerator #KingofNumbers #Streams #PPV I hold every record and I am coming back to KO this novice and rack in more numbers for the company. #StockMarketIndia #MyHighestPayPacketYet #Thanksforthecheese.”
