Undefeated middleweight prospect Bo Nickal is receiving some harsh criticism following his performance at UFC 309 this past Saturday.
The decorated college wrestler picked up the biggest win of his UFC tenure thus far, defeating former ranked light heavyweight, Paul Craig via unanimous decision at UFC 309.
Despite the win, the 28-year-old was relentlessly booed by the Madison Square Garden attendance, as the fans began to chant, ‘overrated’, because of the fact he didn’t score another quick finish.
Darren Till takes aim at Bo Nickal over historic comments about Khamzat Chimaev
Although he left the promotion back in 2022, former UFC star Darren Till has kept pretty up-to-date with the happenings at middleweight because his friend, Khamzat Chimaev, continues his ascent in the division.
At one point, a potential matchup between Bo Nickal and Chimaev was being highlighted by the fans, with both 185lbers considered as future champions of the division.
When the bout was originally posed, Nickal opened up as a major favorite on the betting lines, and he commented that he ‘wasn’t surprised’.
However, since the 28-year-old’s comments, Chimaev’s career has seemingly gone much better than Nickal’s with the Chechen currently ranked three in the division whilst Nickal is still yet to be ranked.
“Guy has talked so much sh*t. Sh*t talked me since he came to the UFC like I haven’t fought and beat top guys in there. Be more humble ya ginger tool cause you’re sh*t Khamzat would destroy you,” Till commented on Nickal’s performance on X.

Bo Nickal vents frustration with UFC commentators
Having said that, Till isn’t the only one who believes Nickal should stop talking about a potential fight against ‘Borz’ as the UFC commentary team of Jon Anik, Joe Rogan, and Daniel Cormier also advised that Nickal wouldn’t be ready for that challenge.
That, though, hasn’t sat right with the American who talking about his performance a few days removed from the matter vented his frustration regarding the criticism.
“When I watched the fight back, something that was a little disappointing was the commentary and hearing the way that they were looking at the fight and it made me feel like they didn’t know what was going on as much,” Nickal said in an interview on The Ariel Helwani Show.
“To hear things like (Daniel Cormier) say, ‘Oh he’s not ready for Khamzat’, and I think he was kind of trying to be respectful but also trying to like, I don’t know, set me down a peg, it was just weird to hear,” he continued.
In his next outing, the 28-year-old will surely hope to silence the recent doubters and finally realize a spot in the top 15 of the middleweight rankings.
