Khamzat Chimaev is keen to get his hands on Alex Pereira, with the Swedish grappler believing he has the minerals to relieve the Brazilian of his title.
‘Borz’ has proven his credentials at 185 pounds beyond doubt, with many convinced he could be just as destructive at light heavyweight, too.
Khamzat Chimaev wants a light heavyweight title fight against Alex Pereira
Last night, Khamzat Chimaev produced an absolutely sensational performance at UFC 308 inside the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
With the weight of the world on his shoulders, the grappler ragdolled Robert Whittaker in a showing that will last in the memory for a very long time to come.
Going into the fight, many wondered whether Chimaev could assert his dominance on ‘Bobby Knuckles’ in the way he had his previous opponents. After all, this is a man who Olympian, Yoel Romero, struggled to take down.
Thus, when the gifted mixed martial artist dominated the contest, and forced Whittaker to tap with a submission so brutal it snapped his jaw, Chimaev made everyone aware that he has what it takes to go all the way.

At the UFC 308 post-fight press conference, the victor was asked whether he’d be willing to step up another division and take on Alex Pereira. And, of course, he answered in the affirmative.
Chimaev said: “Bro, I talk about three belts for a long time. So, of course, I want to go up. But what Dana White and what the UFC want, I don’t know, man.
“If they give me first another fight in my weight, I need to take the belt. Then, I’m going to think about this as well.”
And with such devastating wrestling, some might even pick the warrior to get the job done.

As soon as Whittaker tapped, the crowd inside the venue, rose to their feet, cheering on their hero.
However, they weren’t the only ones impressed by what transpired in the octagon.
During an episode of the Fight Companion, Joe Rogan was giving his takes on the action.
And it’s fair to say the UFC commentator had some pretty complimentary things to say about the 30-year-old’s performance.
