Jon Jones has released a carousel of training clips ahead of his showdown with MMA legend Stipe Miocic at UFC 309.

The 37-year-old comes off an emphatic first-round submission over former interim champion Ciryl Gane, bulking up to produce a dazzling heavyweight debut.

Now, with the UFC heavyweight title wrapped around his waist, the former king at 205 lbs looks to extend his reign in the land of the giants.

In doing so, he must first get past Stipe Miocic, who enters their clash on November 16 after spending more than three years away from the sport.

Jon Jones discloses lighter weight for Stipe Miocic showdown

Jon Jones has largely been criticized by MMA fans for fighting Miocic instead of UFC interim champ Tom Aspinall or Francis Ngannou, two of the sport's most formidable heavyweights.

Equally, several calls for retirement have been directed at Miocic, who comes off a devastating second-round stoppage defeat to Ngannou and now returns at the age of 42.

But still, fans will no doubt be looking forward to seeing what one of the all-time greatest pound-for-pound fighters can achieve in the heavyweight division.

For his demolition over Gane, Jones weighed in at 248 lbs but, in truth, looked a much fleshier version of the man that streamrolled through multiple top contenders at light heavyweight.

Now, however, 'Bones' has seemingly cut down to a more comfortable weight of 240 lbs, but nonetheless appears to have retained his remarkable strength judging by the training footage on his latest Instagram post.

He said: "240 pounds, fast and strong. I used to walk around at 235lbs as a light heavyweight. This almost feels like a light heavyweight fight without the weight cut."

Will Jon Jones fight Francis Ngannou or Tom Aspinall after Stipe Miocic?

Unfortunately, Jones has given little indication on who he will target should he get past Miocic.

Ngannou ultimately represents a less straightforward matchup than Aspinall, with 'The Predator' now fighting under the PFL promotional banner.

But, then again, Jones has expressed virtually no interest in facing the Brit, claiming that a title defense against two-division champion Alex Pereira would be a more lucrative option.

And yet, somehow, even if the light heavyweight king was to lock horns with Jones, worthy challenger Aspinall would still be waiting in the wings.
