Jon Jones branded 'Floyd Mayweather of MMA' as 2-0 fighter tries trash UFC legend's accomplishments

Dillon Danis has played down the achievements of Jon Jones.
The UFC heavyweight champion is fresh off a spectacular win over MMA legend Stipe Miocic, who he knocked out with a spinning back kick to the ribs at UFC 309 on Saturday night.
'Bones' is widely regarded as the greatest MMA fighter of all time, but not everyone believes that his glittering resume is as impressive as it appears on paper.
Dillon Danis compared him to a boxing legend as he tried to dissect his Hall of Fame career.
Dillon Danis brands Jon Jones the 'Floyd Mayweather of MMA'
Conor McGregor's teammate reacted to Jon Jones defending his heavyweight title in style by sharing an old picture of the two of them.
Danis added the caption: "Crazy how this little fan girl who asked for a picture all those years ago turned into a decent fighter."
The 2-0 MMA prospect, who hasn't fought in the sport since 2018, went on to compare Jones to Floyd Mayweather – arguably the greatest boxer of all time.
However, Danis was not trying to be complimentary. The 31-year-old American believes Mayweather's 50-0 record was built on fighting boxers before or after their prime.
“Jon Jones is the Floyd Mayweather of MMA," Danis tweeted.
Think about it—he's never fought any fighter in their prime. It's always been either too early or too late. He's made a career out of perfect matchmaking.
"Think about it and tell me I'm wrong?"
What's next for Jon Jones?
Jones spent much of the buildup to UFC 309 suggesting that he would retire afterward.
Instead of walking away from the sport, he continued to call out light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira, whilst simultaneously distancing himself from a unification fight with interim heavyweight titleholder Tom Aspinall.
"I'm not really worried about the Tom fight, but I am really worried about the Pereira fight – that's what I want to do," Jones said during a post-fight press conference. "That's what I want to do and if the UFC wants to have me back, then I think that's the fight that they'll make.
"I have been really clear about my intentions, that's what I want, and I mean, I just feel like anybody would understand that at this point… I'll retire the heavyweight belt if I have to, give the guy [Aspinall] what he wants."
"I just feel like I'm at a place now where I want to take what I find to be super-fights… I don't want to fight dangerous up-and-comers anymore, I want to fight dangerous and established champions."
Dana White has absolutely no interest in booking Jones vs Pereira next.
The UFC boss will now spend the next few months trying to convince Jones that Aspinall is a worthy opponent who can add to his legacy and his bank balance in a massive way.
