Joe Rogan loved it when Khabib Nurmagomedov talked trash.
'The Eagle' was known for showing his opponents respect, but that went out the window during his bitter rivalry with Conor McGregor, who often went below the belt to promote their fight.
Khabib Nurmagomedov got his revenge when he choked out 'Notorious' in the fourth round of their UFC 229 main event in October 2018, which is the best-selling pay-per-view in MMA history.
However, it was a moment from the weigh-in that Joe Rogan enjoyed more than anything else.
Joe Rogan loves Khabib Nurmagomedov's trash talk
In June, Joe Rogan sat down for a conversation with retired UFC lightweight contender Paul Felder, who occasionally commentates with him on the big fights.
Their discussion got around to Nurmagomedov before Rogan revealed that the undefeated Russian fight legend's speech the day before UFC 229 is one of the favorite moments of all time.
The 57-year-old chuckled while recapping Nurmagomedov’s wild moment on the mic.
Rogan said: "To this day, one of my favorite moments at a weigh-in is Khabib before the Conor fight, where he says, 'I'm gonna smash your boy!
"That was like Khabib trash-talking, which you never heard. You never heard, but Conor brought it out of him.
“'Alhamdulillah, I'm going to smash your boy'.
"And all the Irish people are like, 'No! No! No!'
Will Khabib Nurmagomedov ever fight again?
Nurmagomedov was just 32 years old when he retired at the very top of his game after choking out Justin Gaethje at UFC 254 in October 2020.
Dana White made desperate attempts to get him to stick around, but the Russian phenom stuck to his guns by relinquishing the UFC lightweight title and taking up a career in coaching, which has been a major success as he currently has UFC, Bellator, and PFL champions in his gym.
Despite that, four years after his retirement, rumors about are comeback fight persisted in 2024.
Nurmagomedov recently crushed the hopes of UFC fans by issuing a definitive statement about his fighting future.
"There is no chance, none. Not even one percent, minus [chance],” he said.
"If you guys need champions, I'm helping my brothers to become champions… We have Islam [Makhachev] as a champion, we have Umar [Nurmagomedov] as the next contender, we have Usman [Nurmagomedov] as a champion – we have a lot of champions.
"You guys are never going to miss me because in our team and our gym, we create champions – you guys are always going to have champions, don't worry."
