UFC commentator Joe Rogan will remember one specific post-fight moment forever after Jon Jones’ title win at UFC 309.

Jon Jones‘ first heavyweight title defense was one of the all-time great’s most dominant performances. For Joe Rogan, his post-fight theatrics in the Octagon added an exclamation point to a dramatic showing in the UFC 309 main event.

Jones defeated Miocic at UFC 309 in his long-awaited return to the Octagon. Almost two full years after winning the then-vacant heavyweight belt, Jones quickly shook off any ‘ring rust’ and dismantled Miocic in a clinical showcase.

Many celebrities made their way to Madison Square Garden to watch Jones and other top-name fighters perform on one of MMA’s biggest stages. The action was delivered from start to finish with highlight-reel knockouts and head-scratching controversies.

Joe Rogan lauds Jon Jones’ post-fight celebration as ‘Highlight of the Night’

In a recent Instagram post, Rogan highlighted Jones’ post-fight dance just feet away from U.S. President-Elect Donald Trump.

“Highlight of the night: [Jon Jones] with the KO victory followed up by the Trump dance,” Rogan posted.

Jones and an Octagon-side Trump shared a brief post-fight conversation after he secured the win at UFC 309. Trump, an avid UFC fan, will return to The White House after winning the 2024 U.S. Presidential Election in an electoral college landslide.

Trump received a thunderous ovation when he arrived at Madison Square Garden with several cabinet nominees, including business magnate Elon Musk. UFC CEO Dana White and Trump share a friendship spanning more than two decades.

Jones returned to the Octagon for the first time since defeating Ciryl Gane for the vacant heavyweight title at UFC 285. He was supposed to face Miocic at UFC 295 last year before withdrawing due to injury, resulting in a last-second interim title booking between Tom Aspinall and Sergei Pavlovich.

Jon Jones delays retirement in hopes of securing high-profile fight after UFC 309

After previously teasing retirement following UFC 309, Jones has pivoted on that stance, and expressed his desire for at least one more super fight. He’s targeting a potential matchup with UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira, although White and the UFC brass aren’t interested in making it happen.

Aspinall, who weighed in as the UFC 309 backup, is the most logical option for Jones’ next fight. He and Jones have exchanged barbs for months, and Aspinall refuses to defend the interim title for a second time after defeating Curtis Blaydes at UFC 304.

Jones, White, and the UFC matchmakers will enter contract negotiations in hopes of extending the legend’s promotional tenure. If Jones’ desired price tag isn’t met, UFC 309 could’ve been the last time fight fans will see him compete in the Octagon.

For now, the UFC 309 aftermath is still fresh, and post-fight contract talks will begin this week. As for Rogan, he’s seen it all inside the Octagon during his broadcasting career, and Jones’ nod to the president-elect capped off an epic night in New York City.
