Jake Paul’s cordiality with Conor McGregor appears short-lived after a pair of recent social media posts.

Jake Paul is targeting a return to the boxing ring later this year as he pursues top names for his next fight. After defeating heavyweight boxing legend Mike Tyson last year, Paul has been linked to a potential rematch with Tommy Fury and a showdown with another heavyweight great for his next boxing chapter.

As he prepares for his boxing comeback, Paul made waves on social media for his interactions with Conor McGregor as the two were in Washington D.C. for Donald Trump’s presidential inauguration. Jake and Logan Paul traded barbs with McGregor while sharing a bus to the festivities, but everything seemed light-hearted and well-intentioned.

But any positive vibes between McGregor and the Paul brothers dwindled in recent days. As speculation swirls regarding Jake’s return to the boxing ring, and Logan’s recent fight talks with McGregor, Jake added to his long-standing beef with McGregor on social media.

Jake Paul taunts Conor McGregor in praise of Paul Hughes after PFL Champions Series slugfest

In a recent post to X, Paul mocked McGregor for being contractually locked up with UFC as he teased fight news.

“Unlike our fanboy, I call my own shots. Sit and wait until they tell you when you can fight. Announcement soon,” Paul tweeted Saturday.

Paul is alluding to McGregor’s contract with the UFC, which prohibits him from pursuing boxing matches with Jake, Logan, and other potential rivals. McGregor recently admitted that the UFC brass ‘aren’t into’ him boxing Logan as the promotion awaits his return to the Octagon following a four-year hiatus.

Paul also weighed in on the PFL Champions Series: Dubai main event between Usman Nurmagomedov and Paul Hughes, which was the latest chapter in the Ireland vs. Dagestan MMA rivalry. While crediting Hughes for his performance despite the loss, he mocked McGregor’s past performance against Usman’s cousin, Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229.

“Paul Hughes did what Conor McGregor couldn't do. Congrats my guy. You won regardless of the outcome. Big ups to both men,” Paul said.

McGregor lost to Khabib by submission at UFC 229 in his first MMA fight after his professional boxing debut against Floyd Mayweather Jr. Hughes became one of the few lightweights to go the full distance with the dominant Usman inside the cage.

Conor McGregor vs. Logan Paul fight talks have stalled after UFC superstar’s recent admission

Jake Paul has repeatedly poked fun at McGregor and called him out for fights over the last few years. McGregor seemed serious in entertaining a fight with Jake after teasing a boxing match in India with Logan, before negotiations hit a dead-end.

Jake has bounced back nicely since his first-career boxing defeat to Tommy Fury in 2023, earning wins over McGregor’s former UFC rival Nate Diaz and UFC Hall of Famer Anderson Silva. The Fury rematch is also on the table for Jake’s next fight after Fury’s recent withdrawal from a scheduled bout with former UFC title challenger Darren Till.

Despite their light-hearted meetup in Washington D.C., there remains little love between the Paul brothers and McGregor. Depending on McGregor’s next combat sports move, we could potentially see them settle their beef in the ring in 2025 and beyond.
