Prior to Alex Pereira’s UFC 303 title defense against Jiri Prochazka, the challenger accused ‘Poatan’ of using shamanic spirits to help him win fights and old rival Israel Adesanya has agreed with Prochazka’s claims.

UFC light heavyweight champion, Alex Pereira, is set to make the third defense of his title this coming weekend at UFC 307 as he takes on number eight-ranked contender, Khalil Rountree Jr in the main event.

Despite having only been in the UFC since 2021, ‘Poatan’ has had more championship fights than normal fights in the promotion, showing how big of a superstar he has become.

Israel Adesanya agrees with Prochazka’s claim that there is ‘juju’ surrounding Alex Pereira

Former UFC middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya, of course, has a long history with the Brazilian champion and has agreed with Prochazka’s claim that there is a ‘juju’ that surrounds ‘Poatan’ for his fights.

“You know what Jiri said about the whole juju thing, that’s real, that’s real. The last time I fought him in Miami, look, he beats me, that’s why anyone says ‘Izzy’s scared’, like bro, I ain’t scared of sh*t,” Adesanya began to explain on the Joe Rogan Experience.

“The guy beat me in the biggest arena on the planet, Madison Square Garden, the same way as the last time he beat me in Brazil in his hometown. I was beating his ass, I had him hurt at the end of the first round, all that sh*t, took him down, and then he gets me in the last round.

“It’s his spirit, it’s whatever his ancestors or his people that are praying for him because I have prayer worries as well my Mom and Dad be fastening and they have people in the spirit (world) praying for me, but like, the way he carries himself, something about him just, he knows how to recover well,” he continued.

Israel Adesanya wants a rematch against Sean Strickland next

Following his loss to Dricus Du Plessis at UFC 305, ‘The Last Stylebender’ will once again have to fight a contender to re-earn another title shot.

The former champion has his eyes set on a rematch against Sean Strickland as he wants to avenge his UFC 293 loss to ‘Tarzan’.

“Strickland definitely, I took his best shots and I just know I can, I know I can take this guy. I know what I can do,” Adesanya claimed.

Despite Izzy’s hopes of a rematch with Strickland, the 33-year-old is likely rematching ‘Stillknocks’ next for the title and so Adesanya will have to wait for the culmination of that potential fight.
