'I couldn't figure it out'… UFC Vegas 101 star breaks silence after suffering strange injury during defeat

The first UFC card of the year threw up some weird and wonderful moments.
Mackenzie Dern's submission win over Amanda Ribas topped off UFC Vegas 101, which saw a fighter slap her coach and Chris Curtis suffer a controversial KO defeat on Saturday night.
Russian star Roman Kopylov stopped Sean Strickland's teammate with just one second left on the clock before heading backstage to get his badly cut eye stitched up.
Cuts and debated decisions are commonplace in MMA, but Trey Ogden suffered an unusual injury that didn't become apparent until the end of his UFC Vegas 101 fight.
Trey Ogden suffers bicep tear
Trey Ogden was hoping to improve his win streak to three at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
The American lightweight squared off against perennial contender Thiago Moises, who was looking to bounce back from his June 2024 decision defeat against Ľudovít Klein.
Moises utilized calf kicks from the very first bell. The Brazilian contender, who is known for his ground skills, looked good on the feet as he winged rapid punches at his opponent.
Ogden had some success with his jab during a largely cagey opening round that could’ve gone either way.
In round two, Moises's leg kicks paid dividends as he managed to drop Ogden with one of them before following his rival to the floor where he dominated for much of the five-minute frame.
Ogden's cornerman told him to mix up his game by wrestling in round three.
'Shamurai' managed to take his opponent to the ground, but he got reversed by Moises, who regained top position and cruised to a relatively simple decision victory.
Before the cageside judges handed in their unanimous 29-28 scorecards, the UFC commentators mentioned that Ogden may have suffered a serious injury during the fight.
The 35-year-old could be seen pointing to his left bicep during a post-fight conversation with Moises, which seemingly confirmed the suspicions of Brandon Fitzgerald, Michael Bisping, and Dominick Cruz.
Trey Ogden issues statement
Post-fight, Ogden took to social media to provide fans with an injury update.
The 18-7 (1NC) fighter confirmed that he had suffered a full bicep tear.
It's an injury that will most likely require surgery and keep him out for a while.
"I'll make a full post soon, but I did suffer a full bicep tear at the beginning of round 2," Ogden wrote on his Instagram story.
"And got my a** whooped for it. Sorry I couldn't figure it out guys.
"Thanks for all the love and concern.
"Unfortunately, sounds like I will be headed to surgery in the next few weeks."
