Ben Askren believes Jon Jones could have some ‘dirt’ on Dana White, that’s allowing him to avoid fighting Tom Aspinall.
While the interim heavyweight champion has gone on a rampage in the division, ‘Bones’ has shown very little enthusiasm in a showdown.
Ben Askren thinks Jon Jones might have ‘dirt’ on Dana White
While the MMA community is united in the hope of seeing Jon Jones vs Tom Aspinall, sadly, it doesn’t look likely to come to fruition anytime soon.
According to reports, we’re heading towards watching the undisputed heavyweight champion defend his belt against Stipe Miocic, possibly in November.
While the Cleveland native has undeniably cemented his place in the UFC history books, having lost his last fight via knockout to Francis Ngannou, many think Aspinall would make for a more worthy opponent.
Ben Askren is on board with this point of view, insisting that Jones could have some ‘dirt’ on Dana White, which is preventing him from making the match-up fans so desperately crave.

During a discussion with Daniel Cormier on the former two-weight UFC champion’s YouTube channel, ‘Funky’ said: “I almost feel like Jon has some dirt on Dana, because Dana generally would not put up with this type of behavior.
“This is what the UFC is founded on, where boxing wasn’t; we want the best guys to fight, we want to see who the actual best guy is, we don’t wanna waste time with shenanigans, we don’t want to pad records, to go to 40-0, we don’t do that, that’s what boxing does. In the UFC, we put the best guys in there and see who wins.
“So, the fact that Jones is being, I don’t know if ‘allowed’ is the right term, but Dana is playing along and letting him and Stipe fight when Stipe is going to be close to four years since he’s had a fight. And you have this young interim champion—he’s a beast. He’s smashing people.
“Then, there’s this good, not quite guaranteed chance that Jon beats Stipe and then says, ‘I’m done. I’m gone’. And then, you never get to see that. “
Dana White slams anyone who doesn’t think Jon Jones is the pound-for-pound number one
Over the years, Jones has utilized his formidable creativity and horrifying elbows to dismantle an array of contenders.
During his tenure as a UFC star, White has sat cageside and watched on in awe. Consequently, it seems he’s unable to consider anyone as being on the same level as the polarizing athlete.
Currently, thanks to their terrific exhibitions of mixed martial arts in the octagon, Islam Makhachev and Alex Pereira have bagged the number one and two spots on the list.
However, according to the UFC CEO, this is ridiculous. In a recent rant, White claims anyone who says Jones isn’t the best, ‘knows nothing about fighting’.
